Dear Railroader or FELA Legal Team, I have a unique background that I think you will be interested in for engineering consulting for railroad track and also for FELA and other Railroad Expert Witness work. First of all, I am a Registered Professional Engineer with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have many years of track inspection experience, and I am a graduate of the National Academy of Railroad Sciences Bridge Inspection Course. The unique part of my background is my 37 years of experience in the Railway Industry. At age 62 I retired from a company that manufactures railway track maintenance machinery and provides railroad track contract services. I served as President of Harsco Track Technologies (Now Harsco Rail with an annual sales $280M) for 21 of my 35 years of service with the company. I have extensive experience with UP, BNSF, CSX, NS, CN, CP, KCS, transit systems, and the smaller railroads including shortlines. During my experience as President, I was deeply involved in railroad track engineering and inspection. In addition I have a background in FELA, railway track safety, maintenance of way track incidents, right of way fires, bridge accidents, injuries resulting from improper use of complex track machines, construction of new track, renewal of existing track, design of track, switches, design and manufacturing of track machinery, legal issues resulting from mixing railroad labor with non-employee contract labor, tunnel accidents, rolling stock (rail cars), and locomotives. With this background, my degrees, and my status as a Registered Professional Engineer, I believe that I make an excellent consulting engineer and also expert witness for complex and difficult litigation. My consulting rates are very competitive, and I would be pleased to review the basics of any engineering project or legal case at no charge to provide my ideas on the engineering support I can give.
